About Everybody Talks
Who am I?
John established Everybody Talks in the UK in 2013 where it is now a thriving healthcare company providing speech & language therapy and occupational therapy to schools across London.
John moved back to New Zealand in mid-2021, continuing to manage Everybody Talks in the UK from afar.
On moving back, John specialised in stuttering treatment, working with the Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust in Auckland (START) – New Zealand’s only specialist stuttering service.
John continues to work one day per week with START and has now decided it’s time to launch the Everybody Talks brand in New Zealand, bringing his broad range of experience in many different speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) to New Zealand clients.
How it all started…
I established Everybody Talks Ltd in the UK in 2013. Prior to this I worked in a specialist education setting in New Zealand and, for the first (nearly) 5 years in the UK, I worked within the NHS public health service.
There is a current shortage of health professionals, including speech and language therapists, worldwide.
Following early intervention best practice guidelines, families are understandably eager to have their children and loved ones supported more quickly and to a level which meets their needs.
Through no fault of the many wonderful health professionals already offering their services to families and clients in need of support, early and longer term intervention isn’t always being achieved.
Now seems like a good time to offer my services in New Zealand as well as maintaining them in the UK.
Why me?
I hold multiple registrations, both in the UK and New Zealand: HCPC, CertMRCSLT, MASLTIP, NZSLT.
I place a strong emphasis on tailoring my services to meet my clients’ needs, recognising that no two clients are the same. I see the client and their family at the centre of any therapy plan; recognising the expertise that family and people who know a child/ family member well bring to any effective therapy partnership.
I am continually looking to developments within the research community to enhance the service I offer, and I am committed to keeping up with these developments through regular training.
I pride myself on being adaptable and responsive to every individual’s needs.
Safety of my clients is of utmost importance. I maintain annual criminal records checks and regularly attend Safeguarding Training.
